Marketing for Creatives - Online Workshop - Thursday 21st January 2027
MARKETING FOR CREATIVES
Build a simple, complete marketing plan for your creative work in one session.
Led by Alex Finberg, maker, published author and founder of Woodcrafters.
WORKSHOP DETAILS
Date: Thursday 21st January 2027
Time: 09:30am – 12:30 UK time
Price: £35 (subsidised by grant funds from School of Social Entrepreneurs)
LIVE online & recorded (recordings sent out after the workshop to all who book on)
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Most creatives market their work by doing more: more posts, more platforms, more markets. It is tiring, it is hard to keep up, and it is rarely sustainable and rarely the best course of action
This workshop takes a different route. In two and a half hours you will learn the fundamentals of marketing in plain English, and turn them into a Marketing Plan that you can start using straight away.
It is a practical course from start to finish. Comprised of video modules and written guides, each section teaches one simple marketing concept, shows real case studies, and then gives you time to apply it to your own creative practice.
Can't make it live? The full recording is shared with everyone who books on.
WHAT WE COVER
1. Where you are now
Understanding the key principles of Marketing. What marketing actually is, and a quick health check of your creative business, so you know where to focus first.
2. Your customer and your message
Who your work is really for, why people buy it, and when they are ready to buy. You will write your customer ‘profile’ in one sentence, a one-line description of your work, and one clear reason for people to choose you and your offering
3. Your people: customers and allies
Mapping out a list of everyone who could buy from you, recommend you, stock or host your work, or help you reach more people. You will leave with ten people to contact, a clear ask for each one, and a simple message to send.
4. Your marketing pillars and channels
Three to five topics to come back to again and again, so you never start from a blank page. Which channels to use, why an email list matters, and how to be found when people ask Google or an AI assistant for something like yours.
5. Your six-week campaign and your numbers
A campaign plan for one offer, timed for when people are ready to buy, and the few numbers worth checking each week.
6. Bringing it together
Beyond a marketing plan, how to implement marketing processes, gain more reach and get more customers on board

QUESTIONS
Is this only for craftspeople? No. The fundamentals are the same whatever you make or teach, and the examples are chosen to work for any creative.
Do I need to be on social media? No. Social media is one channel among several. Many creatives sell well through email, markets, shops and word of mouth.
What if I can't attend live? Book anyway. You will receive the recording and all the resources, and you can work through the plan in your own time.
Is there any homework? Allow about 30 minutes after the session to finish your plan. After that, the work is putting it into practice.
